Months after being handed 2025 Ryder Cup captaincy, Keegan Bradley chosen to perform another important role at the President Cup
Keegan Bradley's golf responsibilities are mounting, as he prepares for a pivotal role in the 2024 Presidents Cup, just months before assuming the captaincy of the 2025 Ryder Cup team. Bradley has now been added to the USA team's leadership as captain's assistant under Jim Furyk.
The 2024 Presidents Cup is all set to be held at the The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Canada, from September 24 to 29. Bradley will join Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard, and Kevin Kisner as the fourth captain's assistant on Furyk's USA Presidents Cup team.
Furyk was delighted to announce Bradley as captain, highlighting his passion for the game as a valuable asset for his roles in 2024 and 2025. Here's what the 54-year-old said to the PGA Tour:
“Keegan is a tremendous competitor with a bulldog mentality and we are looking forward to having his voice in the team room in Montreal. He has a strong passion for match play competition and I know he will be an asset to our players in 2024, as well as 2025, as he leads them into Bethpage Black for the 2025 Ryder Cup.”
Currently, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala and Patrick Cantlay make up the top 6 golfers in the rankings. As such, they are favorites to make the US team for the 2024 Presidents Cup.
Keegan Bradley expresses his enthusiasm after being selected as Presidents Cup assistant captain for Team USA
Keegan Bradley was ecstatic to accept the assistant captain role, saying that it would give him the experience and exposure he needs as he prepares to lead Team USA in the 2025 Ryder Cup.
“I was ecstatic to get the call from Jim and looking forward to doing all I can to help our team in Montreal. With the Ryder Cup on the horizon next year, this will be a great experience for me to understand the other side of the team room and how that camaraderie and coaching helps our guys play their best,” he said.
The 38-year-old has already announced Webb Simpson as his first vice-captain for the Ryder Cup. Bradley missed out on the 2023 Ryder Cup after failing to qualify via rankings and not getting picked by captain Zach Johnson.
Bradley edged out Tiger Woods in the battle for captaincy. Woods' recent struggles and off-course duties went in favor of Bradley.
Bradley has six wins on the PGA Tour so far. However, he has not had any wins on the Tour this season. Bradley has recorded two runner up finishes this year, one at the Sony Hawaii Open and the Charles Schwab Challenge.
