“More chance of you… signing for Man Utd” - Lee Westwood hilariously responds to footballer Robbie Fowler asking about LIV Golf vs PGA Tour match

LIV Golf’s Lee Westwood has dismissed any chances of his league facing the PGA Tour in a Ryder Cup-style event. The English golfer rubbished the rumors around a LIV vs PGA match after Liverpool FC legend Robbie Fowler asked him about it.

English footballer Fowler tagged Westwood on Twitter to ask a “serious question." He asked if the fans could see a Ryder Cup-style competition between the sides and added that it would add to the sport’s watching.

Fowler wrote:

“Serious question Lee Westwood .. could we see a Ryder cup style competition with LIV Golf taking on the PGA Tour? you'd get a few watching that, my idea”
Serious question @WestwoodLee .. could we see a Ryder cup style competition with @livgolf_league taking on the @PGATOUR ?
you'd get a few watching that, my idea😂

The post felt like a doubt rising from the increased rumors about the idea first introduced by LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman. The Aussie had first stated that he was ready to put forth such a matchup between the sides. Fans even seemed excited about the prospect. However, Westwood has now come out to slam the idea.

The 49-year-old golfer made a hilarious comeback, stating that such a match would never happen. The ace golfer stated that there was more chance of Fowler coming back from retirement and joining Liverpool’s arch-rivals Manchester United. As fans know, it is impossible.

Westwood wrote in response:

“There’s more chance of you making a comeback and signing for Man Utd Rob!”
@Robbie9Fowler @livgolf_league @PGATOUR There’s more chance of you making a comeback and signing for Man Utd Rob! 😂😂

Fowler immediately understood the feeling and responded back by stating that it’ll be like “2 boxers getting in the ring who can't stand each other.”

Phil Mickelson on LIV Golf vs PGA Tour match

It is pertinent to note that this isn’t the first time this topic has gained a good response. Earlier this year, Phil Mickelson came out to respond to the same. The controversial golfer couldn’t resist sharing a laugh when the original idea of the LIV Golf vs PGA Tour match was floated. Speaking about the rumored 12-a-side matchup, Mickelson said that his side would crush the opposition on the field.

Making an obvious dig at the PGA Tour on Twitter, Mickelson wrote:

“It sounds great, but we would dominate them so soundly and it would be over so quick that TV would have to fill an hour of dead time. That’s why it’s not happening at this time.”

Mickelson even went to state that Tiger Woods, who would potentially lead the PGA Tour side in such a match, could even use a cart for the event. The LIV player’s comments were treated as good trash talk by fans. While his confidence seemed interesting, fans will never get to see the real result as such a PGA-LIV match wouldn’t be possible due to legal clashes between the two sides.

However, a Ryder-cup-styled event featuring the top 12 players in LIV Golf going up against the top 12 remaining on the PGA Tour with Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods as the two captains sounds like a perfect event for the fans.
