Mr Beast offers to fly out X star to play against Bryson DeChambeau
Mr Beast, one of the biggest content creators right now, reportedly offered to bring a fellow social media star out to compete with Bryson DeChambeau. The YouTube star reportedly called Jerry the Kid, a Barstool personality, and asked if he'd fly with him to compete with DeChambeau for $1 million.
Barstool president Dave Portnoy spoke about the incident, saying:
"Jerry is born for this. He's the perfect guy to play in that, and he would be the perfect guy for the tournament we're trying to put together."
Portnoy revealed that his company had been planning to do something similar and that Jerry would've been the best person to get involved. Now, he's got Mr Beast and DeChambeau to contend with.
The Barstool boss even went on to say that he'd confided in DeChambeau about his ideas and that the LIV Golf star loved the idea and wanted to be involved with it.
Portnoy eventually determined that Jerry would not be able to go with Mr Beast and compete with DeChambeau, instead opting to utilize the personality for Barstool's own event.
He also added that he hasn't heard from the 2024 US Open champion in a while about it. The fact that he's now reportedly involved with Mr Beast's event gave Portnoy pause about the whole thing.
DeChambeau is partnered with FanDuel while Barstool is with DraftKings, which may have played a role. Ultimately, it boiled down to Jerry being a paid content creator for Barstool, not Mr Beast.
Donald Trump shouts out Bryson DeChambeau after election win
Donald Trump went on Break 50, Bryson DeChambeau's popular YouTube show, earlier this year. DeChambeau has become a supporter of his, even appearing at Trump's election-night party.
After winning, Trump addressed the crowds and looked to bring the golfer up on stage. He said (via Golfweek):
“We have up here today the U.S. Open champion. He’s a fantastic golfer. Slightly longer than me. Hits the ball a little bit longer than me. Just a little bit."
He looked around for DeChambeau but couldn't find him in the mass of celebrating people:
“What happened to Bryson? Where is he? Bryson! He’s hitting balls. Oh, he’s on the way? He’s hitting balls.”
Eventually, DeChambeau surfaced onstage wearing the classic "Make America Great Again" hat. This elicited praise from the president-elect and cheers from the crowd:
“Oh, look at him. He’s got a great career going. Great U.S. Open, Bryson. That’s a fantastic job.”
DeChambeau's event with Trump had raised over $250,000 million in charity, all of it going to the Wounded Warrior Project. It was also viewed over 11 million times on Bryson DeChambeau's ever-growing YouTube channel.
