“My record is 6.5 hotdogs in 10 minutes”: Paige Spiranac volunteers for a new competition as former competitive eater gets banned

Paige Spiranac is back in the headlines, but this time for a reason other than golf. The former professional player has volunteered for a competition very different from the sport that has brought her success.

Spiranac has volunteered to compete in Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition, which will be held on July 4th. This development comes after multiple time champion Joey Chestnut was banned. Spiranac made her proposal by posting on X.

"I’m available to fill in. My record is 6.5 hotdogs in 10 minutes," she wrote.

The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition is an eating competition sponsored by Nathan's Famous Fast Food Chain. Chestnut has won the competition 16 times, including eight in a row (2016–2023). Chestnut also holds the record for most hot dogs eaten, with 76. The New York Post revealed that Joey Chestnut's ban stems from his endorsement agreement with a competing hot dog company. It is a brand that produces vegan hot dogs.

The organizers of the competition released a statement that reads as follows (via the New York Post):

"For nearly two decades we have worked under the same basic hot dog exclusivity provisions. However, it seems that Joey and his managers have prioritized a new partnership with a different brand over our long-time relationship... We hope he returns when he is not representing a rival brand."

Paige Spiranac's Non-Golf Activities

Paige Spiranac is world famous for creating golf-related content for digital platforms. With over 4 million followers on Instagram, over 1 million on X, and hundreds of thousands more on YouTube, Tik Tok, etc., Spiranac is the most followed golf-related personality on social media.

This has brought her numerous sponsorship contracts, whose advertising commitments Spiranac generally fulfills with golf-related themes. It has also brought her collaborations with other influencers, the most recent being major champion Bryson DeChambeau.

However, Spiranac also occasionally steps outside of golf to pursue other activities. It is common for her to share her opinions and predictions about the National Football League (NFL). She has also had experience hosting social events, such as the 2023 Melbourne Racing at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia.

Most recently, she served as a model for the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. This opportunity meant a return to the publication for Spiranac, having had a similar experience in 2018.
