Sports Illustrated Swimsuit (SI Swimsuit) and Nelly Korda announced on Saturday (Nov. 2) that the player will be one of the models for the magazine's 2025 issue. It was also reported that the issue will be published in May next year.
A few hours after the announcement was made, a number of behind-the-scenes images were released. One of the first to appear was of Korda accompanied by SI Swimsuit editor-in-chief MJ Day.
Both Korda and SI Swimsuit have posted images from the shoot, which took place this Saturday in Boca Raton, Florida, on their respective Instagram stories. Some of the photos show Korda getting ready and having her hair and make-up done.
Other photos give a glimpse of some of the swimsuits she wore. The first photo shows a detail of a blue two-piece swimsuit. On one side of the photo, you can read the name of the renowned Yasmine Eslami, who designed the swimsuit.
The other swimsuit worn by Nelly Korda is a LaQuan Smith design. It's an all-black one-piece with a long sleeve on the right arm and the left arm uncovered.
The posts also show Korda in the middle of the photo shoot. One picture shows her smiling, while a video clip shows the World No. 1 kneeling on the beach with the waves lapping at her knees.
According to the magazine, the 2025 issue will feature several top athletes as models. Editor-in-chief MJ Day said (via Sports Illustrated Swimsuit):
"We are thrilled to launch our shoot season for the 2025 issue with an extraordinary lineup of powerful female athletes. This remarkable group, featuring Olympic medalists, world champions, and record holders, embodies the next generation of all-stars poised to transform the world of sports."
So far, the list of SI Swimsuit 2025 models has not been released. Korda's is just the first name to be publicly revealed.
