Newest PGA Tour card winner Matt McCarty wants to play with $300M-worth LIV Golfer
Matt McCarty, the newest member of the PGA Tour, has shared his desire to play with Phil Mickelson. The American golfer topped the Korn Ferry Tour rankings for the 2024 season, earning his PGA Tour card. He began his campaign on the Tour with some strong finishes and secured his maiden PGA Tour victory at the Black Desert Championship.
McCarty recently appeared on an episode of the Golf Subpar podcast with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz, where he discussed his first Tour win and his journey so far. The Scottsdale native also expressed his wish to play with Mickelson, whose net worth is around $300 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
"Just to watch him, obviously, like I grew up a huge Phil guy being a lefty, and Tiger Woods, kind of my whole childhood, was just dominant. So obviously those two," he said. [21:33]
McCarty started his full-time PGA Tour journey at the Sanderson Farms Championship, where he finished tied for 63rd place. He then competed at the Black Desert Championship, where he impressively secured the victory with 62, 68, 64, and 67. His last outing was at the Shriners Children's Open, where he missed the cut.
