NFL star Sauce Gardner copies Tiger Woods to channel his ‘addiction’ for a new sport
Sauce Gardner is emulating Tiger Woods in his pursuit to get better at golf. The New York Jets cornerback is technically not in the offseason anymore, but there are still a few months to go before the NFL regular season begins. As such, he's spending his free time on the golf course with Dylan Block.
He shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he has seen a marked improvement in his game over the last few days after playing with the son of PGA Championship fan favorite Michael Block.
That prompted a response from TaylorMade, one of the largest golf equipment brands in the world. They remarked that it was rare to see someone get the "golf bug" live, but that they would help Gardner get everything he needs to succeed.
Gardner told them that he was using the Qi10 Driver, which is the same club that Tiger Woods uses. The equipment is hardly the reason Woods has won 15 Majors and 82 PGA Tour events, but there are few better players to model and use their equipment.
Gardner also shared that he was "addicted" to golf, saying that it's the only thing that he has ever obsessed over in that nature. Gardner entered the NFL in 2022, but it's golf that has really taken hold of him lately.
Also on social media, the cornerback revealed that he would be getting a golf simulator installed in his house so that the growth and momentum he builds right now won't go away once the NFL preseason really kicks into gear.
Sauce Gardner has partnered with TaylorMade
It is fitting that TaylorMade wants to help Sauce Gardner get better at golf. The star cornerback has been on this journey for roughly a year, getting better all the time, and wants to continue this trend to support his new "addiction".
This is because they've already worked with Gardner. They have golf balls for sale that have the New York Jets cornerback's face on them. Ironically, this is something even most golfers don't have and Gardner plays an entirely different sport.
The TP5x golf balls sell individually for $54.99, so they're not cheap. Sauce Gardner has been seen using these from time to time in his golf videos. It's possible that they were given to him as part of the collaboration.
Right now, they're sold out on the TaylorMade website and fans who want to get one will have to sign up to find out when they come back in stock. Clearly, since there aren't any available, the Gardner x TaylorMade collaboration has been a successful one.
If the cornerback continues on this trajectory, it wouldn't be a surprise to see TaylorMade feature him on clubs, bags, and any manner of equipment or apparel.
