"One of my favorite people on this planet"- Charley Hull details her favorite player to become 2026 Solheim Cup captain

Charley Hull is at Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, to play in the Kroger Queen City Championship. However, Hull has not stopped reflecting about the Solheim Cup and is already thinking about the next edition.

At her pre-tournament press conference, Charley Hull was asked who she thought could succeed Suzann Pettersen as captain of the European team. The Englishwoman responded by mentioning one of her "favorite people" in the world.

This is what Charley Hull had to say (via ASAP Sports):

"I honestly feel that Mel Reid would make a great captain. When I knew she was going to be one of the assistant captains this time round I was absolutely buzzing. Mel is one of my favorite people on this planet."

She added:

"She gets me; I get her. She's so much fun. She is a good laugh. She can be serious when she needs to be. She brings a lot of the atmosphere to the team. I feel like she would be a great captain."

Charley Hull added a second name to her list of "candidates" to captain future European teams:

"Also Anna Nordqvist, but I feel like she should still be in the next Solheim Cup [as a player]. I don't know if you can have a playing captain."

Suzann Pettersen has captained the European team in two editions of the Solheim Cup. Her record is one draw and one defeat, although the draw was enough to retain the trophy.

Although the end of Pettersen's tenure at the helm of the team has not yet been officially announced, it is customary for captains to serve a maximum of two editions. Only Mickey Walker for the Europeans and Juli Inkster for the Americans have exceeded that number with four and three, respectively.
