“One of the things that frustrates me” - Jon Rahm makes his stance on LIV golf clear amid claims of being “unhappy” with the league

A rumor has gone viral that Jon Rahm is unhappy with his decision to move to LIV Golf. After an unsuccessful few months, Rahm has since bounced back with quality play and won his first LIV tournament, but reports suggested that he regretted the move he made early this year.

Rahm is now pushing back against those reports and rumors. Despite what anyone says, the Spaniard maintains that he is happy with his decision and that everyone on LIV is very pleased.

Rahm said via NUCLR GOLF on X:

“There’s zero validity to what any of that said… I don’t know where it came from. I don’t know why they feel the need to say that some of us are unhappy when we’re not. It’s one of the things that frustrates me a little bit, the fact that they can claim that there’s a source and there’s zero truth to it.”

He went on to say he's "very comfortable" with the decision to move off the PGA Tour:

“I’m... very, very eager for the future of my team and the league. I get to be a part of something very different to what we had in the past. I always enjoyed being part of a team and to be in charge of one now is something incredible.”

The golfer also said that he's not sure why people insist that he's unhappy. He said that the media did it with Brooks Koepka the year before, noting that they "have to" claim someone's unhappy, but that couldn't be further from the truth for every single player.

Jon Rahm looks forward to Ryder Cup despite LIV status

One thing Jon Rahm's move to LIV Golf did do, aside from not making him unhappy, was limit his opportunities. He can and does qualify for the Majors, but that will get harder as time goes on. Other events also have limits. The Ryder Cup is no longer a guarantee.

He will likely play, but he will struggle to automatically qualify, and Team Europe didn't have any players from LIV on the roster in 2023. Despite that, Rahm is excited about next year's competition. He said via the New York Post:

“It’s something so special. It’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s going to be absolutely incredible. And hopefully, I can be a part of the team.”

Bethpage Black, the course for the Ryder Cup, has a lot of challenges. Rahm knows it well:

“It’s a monster. They have a sign over there warning you for a reason. It is a difficult golf course.”

Rahm played there during the 2019 PGA Championship, where he missed the cut and claimed that he suffered through all 36 holes. Regardless, he called it a beautiful course that he's excited to visit.
