Padraig Harrington details why he ‘sticks away from’ using medications on the PGA Tour
Padraig Harrington will play at the DP World Tour’s Irish Open from September 12 to 15 in Northern Ireland. Before the event, he detailed why he avoids using medications on the PGA Tour in a press conference.
Harrington narrated how he would have to get permission from the PGA Tour about medications and give them the reason behind it.
“I really stick away from it. I wouldn't -- if I have to take something, anything at all, I would ring up the PGA TOUR and say, well, what's the story with this, is this okay,” Padraig Harrington said. “You end up being the opposite. Like you don't take anything at any stage, really. You avoid all of it. The only thing I've taken is the EyePromise stuff at the moment. So that would be the end of it for me.
Harrington added:
"But you know if you're going to take stuff -- (...) I certainly wouldn't have gone with the nasal spray myself (...) -- one of the U.S. players got done for taking Night Nurse. You know pretty much even over-the-counter stuff can be -- and that was pretty transparent. (...) That was a very similar case."
Besides Padraig Harrington, the field will have Robert MacIntyre, Irish golfer Shane Lowry, New Zealand's golfer Ryan Fox, Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, and Rory McIlroy, who played on Donald's team.
