Paige Spiranac gives her 'hot take' as Rory McIlroy under fire for cheeky post-loss move at the US Open

Following the heartbreaking loss at the US Open, Rory McIlroy left Pinehurst without giving an interview. However, Paige Spiranac didn't find anything wrong with his actions.

On Sunday, June 16, Rory McIlroy lost the US Open 2024 to Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke. The loss was heartbreaking, as he was once the frontrunner to lift the title. However, he made a few errors on the last few holes that cost him his first major championship in ten years.

Disappointed by his defeat, McIlroy skipped the interview and instead opted to leave Pinehurst quickly. However, Paige Spiranac felt it was perfectly alright to avoid an interview after such heartbreak.

"Hot take but I don’t care when athletes do this," she wrote on X. "He gave us everything he had on the course and gave us such an entertaining day. I feel for Rory right now and can’t even imagine how he’s feeling. Cut him a break"

Earlier, McIlroy had an incredible start to the fourth round and looked to dethrone DeChambeau from the lead to win his second US Open. By the 13th hole, he had birdied five holes and was now 4-under for the day. However, things took a turn for him after this, and he missed two narrow putts, something he hadn't done in a long while.

For the uninitiated, the Northern Irishman was 496 for 496 putting inside the 3 feet before missing one on the par 4, sixteenth. He eventually settled for a 1-under 69 after missing the par putt on the eighteenth, which could have forced the US Open into the extra hole.

DeChambeau, on the other hand, held his nerves, made a phenomenal recovery bunker shot on the eighteenth, and then made an easy putt to become the champion. This was his second US Open title of his career.

Paige Spiranac slams analyst Brandel Chamblee for downplaying Bryson DeChambeau's US Open win

Paige Spiranac didn't look happy with Brandel Chamblee for downplaying Bryson DeChambeau's success at the US Open. She took to X to slam the veteran golf analyst.

"Brandel saying “good fortune” is why Bryson won the US Open is wild," she wrote. "Doesn’t even try to hide his hatred for him. Smh"

Chamblee has been one of the few names who has been a constant critic of LIV Golf and its associated players. He has been involved in arguments with the Saudi-backed circuit pros, including the likes of Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim.

On the other hand, Paige Spiranac has had a better relationship with Bryson DeChambeau after they interacted during one of her YouTube videos. She also admitted that he was completely different from how she had thought of him before their meeting.
