Paige Spiranac lauds Bryson DeChambeau’s “awesome interaction” with fans during the US Open
Bryson DeChambeau leads the US Open 2024 after 54 holes, with a score of 7 under. The LIV Golf star has stood out not only for his golfing quality but also for the experience he brings to the fans present at the course.
This attitude was highlighted by former professional player and current social media influencer, Paige Spiranac, who praised Bryson DeChambeau's conduct at the event. Spiranac did so by posting the following text on X:
"Imagine leading the US Open and casually chatting with the crowd on the tee. Awesome interaction between Bryson and the crowd!"
DeChambeau was seen interacting with fans on several occasions during the third round. He even took time between shots to sign an autograph for a child.
DeChambeau's popularity has skyrocketed in recent times, thanks in large part to his YouTube channel, which currently has more than 693,000 subscribers. DeChambeau himself addressed the issue after finishing his round. He said (via Flushing It):
“The crowd support’s been fantastic and I can’t thank them enough. I’ll continue to feed off them if they continue to give to me and it’s fun."
DeChambeau added:
"YouTube has definitely changed my life in regard to how to be an entertainer and still play good golf. If I can give the fans something special, we’ll see how it goes.”
DeChambeau has done collaborations with the top influencers associated with golf, with Spiranac participating in several of them.
A look at Bryson DeChambeau's performance at the 2024 US Open
Bryson DeChambeau has been in contention for the 2024 US Open title since the first round. On the opening day, DeChambeau carded a score of 67, with four birdies and one bogey.
A day later, DeChambeau played with five birdies and four bogeys, for a score of 1 under. With this performance, he tied for second place, just one stroke behind the then-leader, Ludvig Aberg.
On the so-called "Moving Day," DeChambeau repeated his score of the first day (67), with six birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey. Scoring 6 on the 16th hole was his worst moment of the entire event, but it did not prevent him from taking a three-stroke lead heading into the final round.
DeChambeau is playing in his 10th US Open. In nine previous appearances, he has seven cuts made with only one Top 10, but it was his 2020 victory. This is also the top result of his sporting career so far.
DeChambeau has been close to the title in all three majors held during the season. In the Masters, he was the leader or co-leader during the first two rounds and finished T6.
He then finished solo 2nd and nearly forced a playoff with Xander Schauffele at the PGA Championship. Finally, in the U.S. Open, he reached the final round as leader with a three-stroke lead.
