Paige Spiranac pens message to Keegan Bradley for 'clinching' Presidents Cup victory
Keegan Bradley, who played his way onto the Presidents Cup roster with a late surge, was the player who clinched the 10th straight win for the United States in the competition. Paige Spiranac, a content creator and former pro golfer herself, took to social media to praise the player for his securing putt.
Spiranac said:
"I'm so happy for Keegan! So cool he was the one to clinch the President's Cup for the US."
The United States, thanks to Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley, jumped out to a dominant lead in the opening round. They won all five matches to go up 5-0. The International team responded by doing the same in round two to force an unexpected tie.
The third round was a little more back and forth, but the Americans could create a bit of distance and kept the Internationals at arm's length until Bradley's winning putt over Si Woo Kim. Bradley won two of his three matches in total.
Bradley reflected on his stunning turn via Sky Sports:
"I'm still trying to figure out how all this happened. A month ago I wasn't even in the BMW [Championship], and then we were here and then getting the Presidents Cup point. I'm just proud of everybody. It's a fairy tale. It's a movie almost. I just can't believe it. You just have to work as hard as I can, and good things happen."
The American golfer is set to be the Ryder Cup captain for 2025 after being snubbed from the team last year, so he is currently amid an impressive comeback from an American perspective.
Keegan Bradley eyes Ryder Cup success after clinching putt in Presidents Cup
Keegan Bradley will be back in international competition next year for the Ryder Cup, where the American side will try to avenge a disheartening loss from last year. He will serve as the captain.
If he can make it as a player, he would be eligible to compete, but Bradley is more concerned with continuing Team USA's success after the Presidents Cup than playing for a third time at the Ryder Cup. Via Sky Sports, he said:
"I don't know how that [playing] would ever be possible. I'm going to push that down the road."
If he qualifies on his merit, then Bradley might consider joining the team, but said:
"Outside of that, I won't do that because this is really important to me next year. I don't care about my personal gains of playing in the tournament, I only care about winning the Ryder Cup."
Keegan Bradley believes the best way to proceed is to let his players, whoever they will be roughly this time next year, take the reins while he leads from the sidelines to try and earn a win.
