Paige Spiranac proposes a 1v1 between Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler as the two stars ‘dominate’ the sport
Social media star Paige Spiranac recently proposed a one-on-one match between Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda.
Korda, who recently secured her second major victory at the Chevron Championship on Sunday, April 21, has been on a remarkable winning streak, claiming her fifth consecutive win of the year.
Her victorious journey began with the LPGA Drive On Championship, followed by victories at the FIR Hills Seri PAK Championship and the Ford Championship. She continued her winning streak with a triumph at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards before clinching the Chevron Championship last week.
Following Korda's win at the Major, Paige Spiranac has suggested a match between the men's World No. 1 and the women's World No. 1 golfers.
The social media star recently took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to congratulate Korda on her fabulous win and asked for the match between Korda and Scottie Scheffler. Spiranac wrote:
"5 straight wins for Nelly Korda! Pretty cool to see Nelly and Scottie dominating. Now we need to see them play a match against each other!"
It is important to note that while Nelly Korda has been a dominant force on the LPGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler has also been in outstanding form this year. He has secured victories in three of his last four starts and is currently in contention to win his fourth at the 2024 RBC Heritage.
Scheffler had a chance to win three consecutive tournaments, but his T2 position at the Texas Children's Houston Open prevented him from achieving this remarkable feat.
Comparison between Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler's performance in 2024
Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda have been dominant figures in the golf world this year, exhibiting exceptional performances throughout the season on their respective Tours.
Korda and Scheffler hold top positions in their respective rankings and have both claimed Major victories in 2024.
Korda has competed in only six events this year, emerging victorious in five of them. She kicked off her season with a T16 finish at the Hilton Grand Vacation Tournament of Champions but quickly bounced back with a win at the LPGA Drive On Championship. Subsequently, she has secured victories in five consecutive events.
On the other hand, Scottie Scheffler, the PGA Tour player, has participated in nine events this season, winning three of them. He finished as the runner-up in one event and has recorded eight top-10 finishes.
Scheffler began his season at The Sentry and clinched his first win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. His other two victories came at The Players Championship and the Masters.
Scottie Scheffler is vying for another win at the 2024 RBC Heritage, which was suspended on Sunday, April 21, and is set to conclude on Monday, April 22. He holds a five-stroke lead as he prepares to play the final few holes of the fourth round.
