Paige Spiranac warns against one mistake you should “never, ever” make on a golf course
Paige Spiranac is known around the world for the golf-related content she produces for social networks. The former professional player usually shares with her fans small but important details that should not be overlooked on the golf course, as was the case with her most recent post.
Spiranac posted a video clip on her YouTube channel showing the proper way to carry a golf bag on the course. The influencer explained that carrying the bag correctly prevents the player from looking like a "total newbie." She said:
"If you don't want to look like a total newbie on the golf course, never ever carry it backwards. I can tell someone who's never played golf before because they're carrying it this way [with side padding facing outward], or they're carrying it this way [using just the hand] or they're carrying it this way [under the arm]."
She added:
"I mean, I've seen people carry golf clubs some bizarre ways. Don't do it that way, you're going to look for the padding on the side, most bags have this and the strap will be facing...the plastic will be facing out, and you carry it on your right shoulder.
"This is the correct way to carry a golf bag. Again, if you want to look cool, you do the one strap, if you want to save your back and be smart, you do the two strap."
This video is part of a series of short videos that Paige Spiranac has been producing over the past two months. The series is called "Beginners Guide to Starting Golf" and includes topics such as what to wear on the course, the essential clubs to start with, how to use the driving range and the essentials of playing from grass and hazards.
Paige Spiranac's golfing pedigree
Paige Spiranac's opinions are based on her long experience with golf, first as a player and then as a social media influencer. Her time as a player spanned more than 10 years, as it began when she was 12 years old (2003) and ended after her professional season in 2016.
Spiranac took up golf after an injury ended her career as a gymnast. Her progress in golf was staggering and by the end of high school she was ranked in the top 20 in the world amateur rankings.
This earned her a golf scholarship to the University of Arizona. She then transferred to San Diego State University, where she had her best collegiate golfing results.
After graduating, Paige Spiranac joined the Cactus Tour, a third-tier circuit that has produced the likes of double Major champion So Yeon Ryu. Spiranac played there for the 2016 season, with one victory as her best result.
At the end of the season, she took part in the LPGA Tour's Q-School pre-qualifier, but failed to progress to the next stage. Afterwards, Spiranac decided not to continue her professional golf career to focus on her work in social media.
