Patrick Cantlay enters real estate business, becomes General Partner at leading agency
Although Patrick Cantlay's professional golf career is in good shape, the player is already thinking about a future beyond the sport. Recently, Cantlay took an important step in that direction by getting involved in the real estate business.
The American has become a general partner in LRE Management and will serve as a member of the advisory board. According to The Real Deal, this position makes him one of the company's main investors.
LRE Management was founded in 2012 and is involved in the real estate business. It currently focuses on multifamily properties. In fact, the firm is currently involved in a $102 investment in three properties in Atlanta, Georgia.
Although Patrick Cantlay's professional interests have always been largely tied to golf, real estate is no stranger to him. As he told The Real Deal, his grandfather was in the business and even took him on real estate scouting trips.
"I can remember being little, and we’d go to the golf course. But then we had to stop off on a particular street 20 minutes away to go fix up a property," Patrick Cantlay said.
The operational zone of LRE Management covers the regions known as "Sun Belt" and "Midwest". According to its official website, its investments from 2012 to date (September 2024) exceed $1 billion and have reached 10 states.
Patrick Cantlay's current career moment
Patrick Cantlay, 32, has a 12-year career in professional golf. He has won nine tournaments, eight of them on the PGA Tour, which he joined in 2014.
Despite being out of the winner's circle since 2022, Cantlay remains among the elite in world golf. He is ranked 9th in the world and just finished 17th in the 2024 FedEx Cup rankings.
During the recently concluded PGA Tour season, he played in 19 events and made 18 cuts. He finished in the top 10 four times, with two third-place finishes (RBC Heritage and US Open) as his best results.
This finish in the third Major of the season was his best of the year. He also made the cut in the other three Majors, finishing T22 at the Masters Tournament, T53 at the PGA Championship and T25 at the Open Championship.
Other standout performances in 2024 included a fourth-place finish at the Genesis Invitational and a fifth-place finish at the Travelers Championship. At Riviera, he led the leaderboard for the first three rounds, but his final-round 72 dropped him three places and left him four shots behind winner Hideki Matsuyama.
These results directly qualified him to represent the United States in the Presidents Cup, which will be played at the Royal Montreal Golf Club from September 24-29. This will be his third appearance in the event, with two wins under his belt.
