Patrick Cantlay sets sights on a win ahead of the US Open final round - “Pinehurst seems like a great golf course for me”
At the 2024 US Open, Patrick Cantlay has put up a noteworthy performance until now. In the three rounds played at Pinehurst No. 2, Cantlay is currently on T2 with a score of 4-under. The World No. 9 is tied for second place with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Matthieu Pavon.
Cantlay seems eager to win his first Major on Sunday. In the press conference after Round 3 of the 2024 US Open, Patrick Cantlay was asked how it would feel to potentially win his first Major on Sunday.
The American golfer said it would be "great", adding:
"It'd be great. Pinehurst seems like a great golf course for me. You hit a lot of fairways and play smart around here. And you can move up the leaderboard with pars and just a few birdies. I played really smart today. And was happy with how I grinded it out. And tomorrow I'm sure we'll be a grind as well and I look forward to the challenge." (3:17-339)
While Cantlay seems to be excited about the possibility of winning the US Open, fans must not forget that the competition is currently being led by LIV Golf player Bryson DeChambeau. After two rounds, DeChambeau is 7-under and will be the biggest favorite when he steps on the course on Sunday.
