PGA Tour star Billy Horschel and wife Brittany launch Horschel Family Foundation to support mental health and more

PGA Tour star Billy Horschel and his wife Brittany announced the formation of the Horschel Family Foundation on Tuesday, October 24, at the PGA Tour’s Global Home in Ponte Vedra Beach. The Foundation aims to invest in communities by supporting charities related to mental health, addiction, food insecurity and the military.

Horschel was last seen competing at the DP World Tour's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship earlier this month, where he finished T14.

The formation of the foundation is personal for the Horschel family, as Birtany herself had a tough battle with alcoholism before becoming sober in 2016. She said that she wanted to help other families too in this fight against addiction.

Brittany said that the time was right for the foundation. She was quoted as saying, via The Florida Times-Union:

"You can’t replace authenticity. I know from experience, from my vision, how I can help people from struggling, being depressed, having an addiction problem and get them help."

Billy Horschel added that addiction affects the whole family and he wanted to share his own experience in helping his wife overcome it.

He said as per The Florida Times-Union:

"I wasn’t a great husband. I wasn’t communicating well. I didn’t do the things that could have helped her with the issue she had, so it was a two-way street. I’ll try and help people on this from my side."

The Horschel Family Foundation first launched the PAR Program (Privacy, Access, and Resources), which aims to eliminate the obstacles that hinder individuals seeking help for mental illness or addiction. The Foundation plans to partner with the PGA Tour and collaborate with local mental health and addiction experts.

Before the Horschel couple, the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation, the Len Mattiace Foundation, the Paul and Michelle Tesori Family Foundation, and the Davis Love Foundation were among the prominent foundations formed by the players to give back to society.
