Phil Mickelson only has 1 word to say as 2.92M-followed YouTuber joins LIV golf

Veteran golfer Phil Mickelson recently gave a one-word reaction to a popular content creator joining LIV. Mickelson took to X on January 25, 2025, to react to the news of Rick Shiels becoming a part of the PIF-backed golf tournament.

Shiels is a massive influencer with around three million (2.92 million) subscribers on his YouTube channel. He is a popular figure in the golf community due to his golf-related content and in-depth reviews on golf equipment. When Rick posted the news of his partnership with LIV Golf, Phil Mickelson only had one word to react to the same. He wrote on X:

"Awesome"

The news of Shiels becoming a part of the LIV Golf League might be the next big thing for the Saudi-backed league. LIV is probably following the footsteps of the PGA Tour while stepping into the YouTube world. In 2024, the PGA Tour organized a qualifying event for YouTube golfers at the Myrtle Beach Classic. In August, they held another tournament titled the Creator Classic. Shiels is also a content creator who's closely associated with the PGA Tour.

Phil Mickelson and other LIV Golf players like Joaquin Niemann and Ian Poulter expressed approval of Shiels' inclusion. Rick Shiels's partnering with LIV Golf can be a groundbreaking deal as the 2025 LIV Season starts next month in Riyadh. He might continue to conduct his usual segments like "2-on-2", "Break 75", or "10-shot challenge" alongside LIV Golfers.

Phil Mickelson has also stepped into the YouTube sphere, along with other golfers like Bryson DeChambeau. Recently, Mickelson also announced a collaboration with Grant Horvat. In the video, the pro golfer will participate in a "2-v-2" challenge against the social media influencer. The golf challenge series is scheduled to start on January 27, Monday.

Phil Mickelson reacts to Fox partnering with LIV Golf

The PIF-backed golf league signed a massive deal with the popular broadcasting company FOX Sports on January 16, 2025. The multi-year agreement will ensure more than 200 hours of LIV competition being streamed through FOX Network (FS1, F2, FOX Sports App, FOX Business Network).

Phil Mickelson reacted to this groundbreaking deal between the LIV Golf League and FOX. While talking about it in an interview (reported by FOX Business) Mickelson said:

"FOX has always been on the forefront of innovation and cutting edge fan experience and audience experience, and that’s exactly what LIV is trying to do with the golf world. It’s helping us create a lot of value for our sponsors, and sponsors are coming more now with the value that FOX brings."
"And hopefully, it’ll be added value for FOX and be consistent with that cutting edge, innovative, younger target audience."

Phil Mickelson, who entered the pro golf zone in 1992. He made his LIV Golf debut in 2022. He is the captain part of the HyFlyers Golf Club, with Brendan Steele, Andy Ogletree, and Cameron Tringale as his teammates. Apart from signing a contract worth $200 million approx.
