"Public shaming is the only way" - PGA Tour pro Michael S. Kim suggests 'bad idea' to control 'slow play'

American professional golfer Michael S. Kim has been a full-time member of the PGA Tour since 2016. Recently, the 1-time PGA Tour winner made an appearance on a podcast and discussed an idea that the PGA Tour could use to control the issue of slow play.

Kim shared this idea public during his appearance on The Smylie Show. When asked about a change he'd like to see on the PGA Tour, the 31-year-old proposed a "bad idea," as he described it.

Here's what Kim said:

"So when you play a PGA Tour schedule, they give you your average, time you have spent hitting like a tee shot, second shot, whaterver. And it kind of gives you an overall average. And anyone over, you know, let's say if average on tour was 40 seconds, anyone over 42, a legitimate slow player, they have to wear a different coloured bib or like the top 10 slowest guys, their caddies wear a bib. You know, these guys are going to get heckled like crazy. So that's probably a reason why it's a bad idea. Public shaming is the only way we are going to fix some of these guys. I promise you."

Kim's comments about slow play follow a tweet he made last month. In his tweet, Kim emphasized that the issue of slow play isn't solely confined to a few individuals. Kim's tweet came after the PGA Tour proposed certain changes to help increase the pace of play.
