On Friday, October 4, Rory McIlroy and Robert MacIntyre got into an awkward situation unintentionally, which left the latter a bit annoyed. During the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, MacIntyre's focus was disrupted by McIlroy's huge drive.
On Friday, October 4, Robert MacIntyre shot an even-par 72 in the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He picked up four birdies but also bogeyed two holes and made a double bogey on the 18th. McIlroy carded 3-under 69 with the help of four birdies and made just one bogey.
For the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, MacIntyre and Tyrrell Hatton were in the group ahead of McIlroy and Billy Horschel. After shooting back-to-back bogeys, the Scot was lining up his birdie putt on the green of the par-4, 14th hole when McIlroy hit a huge 390-yard drive that landed on the green.
Robert MacIntyre was visibly unhappy with the disturbance as the ball rolled up behind him. He gave a stare toward the tee box and took a few moments before putting the ball for a birdie.
This was the last birdie of MacIntyre's round, and he finished with a double bogey on the par-4 18th at Kingsbarns. McIlroy also birdied the 14th, which was his last birdie of the day as well. He is currently sitting at T49, while MacIntyre is tied for 70th after 36 holes.
