Robert MacIntyre wary of 'a disaster around the corner' as he chases down victory at the 2024 Irish Open
Robert MacIntyre is one of the contenders at the 2024 Irish Open. With a score of 3-under, the golfer is tied at T3 with Rasmus Hojgaard and Eric Van Rooyen.
After the third round, MacIntyre attended a press conference at Royal County Down GC where he was asked if he could relax after securing a decent spot on the leaderboard. The Scottish golfer shook his head, saying there were chances of 'a disaster' with the wind at the tournament venue.
“No, not at all. I said to Mike out there, it feels like there's a disaster around the corner at any moment. 18, with that wind, there's nowhere. You can't miss it anywhere. You hit a good tee shot, your second shot is what bunker you're trying to avoid. Try to hit as far up the hole as you can and seemed to work,” Robert MacIntyre said ( via ASAP Sports).
In the same presser, the 28-year-old was asked about his thoughts on the possibility of winning the Irish Open after having bagged the Scottish Open trophy earlier this season. Robert MacIntyre replied:
“Look, winning any golf tournament is special but winning one close to home; Oban is not too far away on the west coast of Scotland. I want to win every tournament I'm out there but there's so much that goes into it. Today was a day that I got myself right in position. What I set out to do at the start of the week was give myself a chance come Sunday.”
On Sunday, September 15, Robert MacIntyre will be playing the final round of the 2024 Irish Open.
