Rory McIlroy remains optimistic despite disappointment at the RBC Canadian Open

Rory McIlroy remained optimistic despite a disappointing finish at the RBC Canadian Open. After the second round, McIlroy couldn't make it through the cutline at the PGA Tour event. Following the round, the ace golfer shared his lessons from the TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.

McIlroy joined the post-tournament press conference on Friday, June 6, and shared his thoughts. He said (via ASAP Sports):

“I think there are still learnings that you have to take from a day like today. I still -- look, even though the last two days didn't go the way I wanted them to, there are still things that I can take from it, and there are still things that I can learn. Yeah, I'm going to have to do a lot of practice and a lot of work over the weekend at home and try to at least have a better idea of where my game is going into next week.”

Rory McIlroy continued to share his experience of playing the second round of the tournament compared to the first round, adding:

“I didn't -- like in terms of my game? I didn't hit enough fairways. I felt like I drove the ball better yesterday than I did today. I think, once I made that big number on the front nine, I was always behind the 8 ball a little bit. After nine holes, I sort of resigned myself to the fact that I'd be flying home to Florida tonight.”

McIlroy couldn't make it through the cutline at the RBC Canadian Open because his score was 9-over, while the projected cutline was 3-under.
