Rory McIlroy says golf at 2028 LA Olympics will be ‘much more of a headache’ compared to the ongoing Paris outing

Rory McIlroy is playing at the Paris Olympics, with the golf event scheduled from August 1 to 4. After the second round, he joined a presser where he was asked about the scheduling at the Olympics and whether it contradicts the world golf roster.

The Irishman opined how the bigger problem would be at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, though he added that the golf world would be much different by then.

“I think from what I've read, 2028 in L.A. is going to be much more of a headache than this one was. But maybe the world of golf looks a little different then,” McIlroy said (via ASAP Sports).

One of the journalists then asked the 35-year-old whether the Open Championship would be held after the 2028 Olympics. To this, Rory McIlroy said:

“I don't think you can -- well, it will be the second week of Wimbledon which you can't do, either. There's so many golf tournaments and not enough weeks in the calendar. Something needs to give.”

Rory McIlroy made five birdies and one eagle in the first round of the 2024 Olympics. He then dropped four birdies and one eagle on the front nine. His scores stood at 68 and 69 in the first two rounds.
