Ryder Cup set to charge volunteers $350 to help them at Bethpage - Reports
The 2025 Ryder Cup ticket prices are causing quite an outrage amongst the fans, as the PGA of America is charging $750 for fans to attend the three-day event. To add to the controversy, the Ryder Cup is also now reportedly charging volunteers a $350 'package'.
According to Golf.com, the $350 charge is the most expensive amount ever asked from volunteers to help out with the Ryder Cup. The $750 viewing charge itself is the most expensive price in history.
Speaking anonymously, some of the volunteers said to golf.com:
“It’s basically the same package that volunteers received at the 2019 PGA.
“It’s absolutely tone-deaf."
However, the PGA of America has defended its stance on the hefty prices for tickets for the 2024 Ryder Cup. Championship director Bryan Karns said:
“The general price is indicative of A) this market, B) where we position ourselves, where we feel like we are [in the greater sports landscape], and then C) the demand. I think when you get into a situation where the demand is so high, you want to do your best to price it so you don’t create this massively inflated secondary market.”
Despite the volunteers being a critical part of the event, the PGA of America is charging high prices for their help.
