Scottie Scheffler to Jon Rahm, star names wreak havoc at the WM Phoenix Open

The WM Phoenix Open leaderboard is stacked with big names, including the defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, and the winner of the Sentry Tournament of Champions, Jon Rahm. Scheffler is leading the tally with a scoring deficit of 13 after posting a 68 in the third round.

The overnight leader from the opening day, Nick Taylor slips down to second position alongside current world No. 3, Jon Rahm.

Rahm, who won two consecutive championships earlier this year, is running for his third win of the year at the WM Phoenix Open, scheduled to conclude on Sunday, February 12.

The tournament features some of the biggest names in the golf world. Out of the 132 players who competed in the tournament, 37 were in the top 50 of the world rankings.

Scottie Scheffler was last year's champion and will be the seventh golfer to regain his title if he successfully defends it.

Rory McIlroy, who started his year by winning the Dessert Classic Open, secured the T28 position.

Adam Hadwin secured the fourth position in a two-way tie alongside Jordan Spieth, while Tyrell Hatton, Sungjae Im, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, and Xander Schauffele finished sixth after the third round.

Cameron Smith is placed at the bottom of the leaderboard alongside Stewart Clink. Young recently competed at the PIF Saudi International and finished second in the tournament. The reigning PGA Tour rookie of the year is looking for his first win of the new year.

The 2023 Farmers Insurance Open winner, Max Homa, was placed in the 25th position.

The WM Phoenix Open is the biggest tournament of the year with a purse of $20 million, and after the second day, a couple of big names made the cut and are running to win a whopping amount of $3.6 million in prize money.
