Scottie Scheffler says he "feels like a kid" when he gets paid "a ton of money" for playing golf – “That’s insane”

Scottie Scheffler opened up about his feelings on getting paid significant amounts of money for playing golf. The American golfer has enjoyed an incredible 2024 season, winning seven PGA Tour events along with a gold medal at the Paris Olympics

Scheffler recently appeared on an episode of the Pardon My Take podcast, where he was asked about his feelings on winnings from golf.

The current World No. 1 replied,

"I remember playing my first PGA tournament as a pro, and I didn't play great. I finished maybe in 40th place. It was like two weeks after graduating college, and I made like 30 or 40 grand or something like that. I remember looking at Meredith [his wife] when I got home after I got the text. You get a text from the Tour after each tournament telling you how much money you made, and I looked at her and said, 'Oh my gosh, I just got paid for that. That's insane'" (1:00:43).
"So it's pretty fun. Meredith and I really do—I still feel like a kid, just because...I'm sure you guys can relate to that a little bit. You just sit around at your job and have fun all day, and that's what I get to do. I get to go play golf and have fun."

Scheffler began playing golf professionally in 2018 on the Korn Ferry Tour. He found great success on that circuit, finishing in top position in the Korn Ferry Tour final points and earning a PGA Tour card for the 2020 season.

It's only been four years that he has played on the American golf circuit, and he has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with, becoming World No. 1, winning a gold medal at the Olympics, and also clinching trophies in majors. So far, he has won 13 events on the PGA Tour, with seven of them coming this year.
