"Sh**" - Jordan Spieth has a hot mic moment at The Open Championship

American golfer Jordan Spieth had a candid moment with a mic after hitting a shot during the second round of The Open Championship on Friday, July 19. The former Masters winner, competing at the ongoing Major in Royal Troon, hit a shot that perhaps did not meet his expectations and was heard expressing his feelings just after.

As Spieth followed through after hitting the ball off the tee, he exclaimed, "S***", in what looked like disappointment at the shot. A golf fan shared a video of the moment on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Spieth has had a good start at the Major, shooting a 71 in the first round. In the opening round, Spieth shot a birdie and two bogeys on the front nine. However, he was better on the back nine, making an eagle on the 16th and a birdie on the 13th, mixed in with two bogeys, to score an even-par 71.

However, he struggled on the front nine in the second round, recording one bogey and one birdie. He also shot another bogey on the tenth. At the time of writing, Spieth is tied for 26th place.

Can Jordan Spieth win The Open Championship 2024?

Jordan Spieth is a strong contender to win The Open Championship. At Royal Troon this week, many of the top-ranked golfers, including Rory McIlroy, struggled with their game, but Spieth managed to have a decent start and is playing above the projected cutline of +4.

Spieth has won The Open Championship in the past and given his history at the Major, could also play well enough to win it in 2024. He played at Royal Troon in 2016 when the tournament was held there and tied for 30th place.

The following year, he went on to win the Major. Spieth has an impressive record at The Open, with five top-10 finishes. So far, he has played in the Major ten times and has not missed a single cut. He was runner-up in 2021 and won the event in 2017. According to USA Today, Jordan Spieth's odds to win the Open Championship this week are +6600.

The American golfer has played in 19 tournaments this season and has recorded three top-10 finishes. However, he is still seeking his first win of the year.

Spieth has played in all three previous Majors in 2024 but, unfortunately, did not have good outings in them. He missed the cut at the Masters and finished T43 at the PGA Championship. At the US Open last month, he shot rounds of 72, 71, 74, and 71 to finish at T41. The 2024 Open Championship is scheduled to conclude with the final round on Sunday, July 21.
