“She nearly killed some innocent civilians”: Golf analyst uncovers Caitlin Clarke’s disastrous tee shot at the Annika pro-am
Caitlin Clark had some trouble at the Annika 2024 pro-am. The WNBA star has taken up golf during the offseason and she participated yesterday alongside the tournament namesake Annika Sorensam and Nelly Korda. It wasn't all good, though, including one tee shot that nearly went into the gallery.
Clark hooked her shot over the heads of the fans watching to the left of her. She immediately dropped another ball to try again. The second time, she avoided any dangerous swings.
Golf analyst Sam Riggs Bozoian said:
"Caitlin Clark, I saw she's out there... Some good stuff, and then, inevitably, I saw one where she nearly killed some innocent civilians with one of her tee shots."
His co-host Trent Ryan added:
"The reason I am showing this is not to make fun of her, but it's because I did something similar at the Good Good event just two weeks ago where I snipe hooked one left and almost killed a woman."
He also said that Clark did what he did in warning people that they are not professional golfers, so they need to watch out in those situations. Frankie Borelli chimed in that it's hard because fans line the fairways as if the players are pros, but they're not and can't hit straight like pros can.
Nelly Korda hypes up Caitlin Clark after pro-am outing
Caitlin Clark is one of the most successful basketball players on the planet, but this offseason, she's taken her talents to the golf course. She acknowledged before the Annika pro-am yesterday that she was nervous about it.
One of her two playing partners Nelly Korda said she couldn't tell there were any nerves via ESPN:
"It was great to see how relaxed she was. Obviously with the media attention she has gotten probably in the past year-and-a-half, two years, you can see how she's comfortable playing in front of a larger crowd. And she was just really enjoying it. You can tell."
Clark said that Korda was "amazing" but acknowledged that golf is "hard." Korda went on to say that Clark did well:
"She's definitely very talented. She was picking the ball really clean. She was losing a couple shots to the right, but I asked her how many times a week she plays and I think with the amount of obligations she has, she probably gets to the golf course once a week."
Korda said the WNBA star's influence on fans was something special to see. Caitlin Clark drew a massive crowd despite not being a professional golfer. She played the first nine holes with Korda before taking on the back nine with Annika Sorenstam.
