"Such a gut punch to miss any cut" - PGA Tour pro justifies Max Homa's passionate celebration for making The Open cut
Max Homa has successfully made it through the cutline at the Open Championship. The cutline was set at +6 and Homa’s score was +6 after Friday's game at the Open. Max Homa ended the second round in the most celebratory way by dropping a birdie on the 18th, which confirmed his place for the next round.
PGA Tour's X handle recently posted a video of Homa's celebration after making the cut in the Open Championship. In the video, Homa could be seen making the last birdie on the 18th hole of round two to make the cut. Retweeting the video, Michael S. Kim wrote how it meant a great deal in professional golf to make it through the cutline.
“The cut is such a big part of professional golf. Such a gut punch to miss any cut let alone at the Open champ. So cool to see Max still got that fire even when he’s not playing his best. Go get it this weekend buddy,” Kim wrote.
As far as Max Homa’s performance at the Open Championship is concerned, the golfer sits at T56 on the leaderboard along with Shubhankar Sharma. In the opening round, he double-bogeyed the first hole, followed by two bogeys on holes 6 and 7. Then, Max Homa again bogeyed the 10th and birdied the 11th. He made two more bogeys and a birdie on the 16th to score 76.
In the second round, Homa double-bogeyed the fifth, followed by two birdies on the 8th and 9th holes. He again double-bogeyed the 12th and dropped two more birdies on 16th and 18th.
