“Take it easy” – Scottie Scheffler warns PGA Tour rival as he shoots golf ball to fans at The Open Championship
Scottie Scheffler issued a warning to his PGA Tour rival, Tom Kim after latter hit a golf ball into the fans. This happened during a practice round ahead of the Open Championship.
Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim are at Royal Troon for the 2024 Open Championship. The final major of the season will tee off on Thursday, July 18, marking the tournament's tenth return to Royal Troon.
On Monday, July 15, the PGA Tour shared a video on social media showing the World No. 1 golfer signing autographs for young fans. As the kids approached him for autographs, Scheffler looked towards Tom Kim who rolled the ball towards them. While watching this, Scheffler issued a warning to him.
"Tom, there are children back here. Take it easy," he tells Kim.
Tom Kim responded by asking Scheffler to sign the ball for him. The two-time major champion then gifted the signed ball to the kids. Here's the clip:
Scheffler is the favorite to win another major this year. As per CBS, he is 4-1 to win the Open Championship. Tom Kim is also expected to do well and is 33-1 this week.
How has Scottie Scheffler performed at the Open Championship so far?
Scottie Scheffler has made three appearances at the Open Championship and has made the cut in each of them. He tied for eighth in his debut in 2021, which is his best performance so far. In the next two years, he couldn't achieve a top-20 finish.
Although Scottie Scheffler hasn't won the Open Championship yet, this time he enters the tournament as the clear favorite. He has already won six events this year, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, the Masters Tournament, the RBC Heritage, the Memorial Tournament, and the Travelers Championship. Interestingly, all of these events were the Signature events with the highest prize money.
In addition to his six wins, Scheffler also has two runner-up finishes at the Texas Children's Houston Open and the Charles Schwab Challenge. It will be interesting to see if he can end the major championship season with another victory.
