"Texas is a really good team" - Scottie Scheffler and other tour pros share their picks for Saturday's NFL game
Professional tour players like Scottie Scheffler recently picked their winner for the Georgia vs Texas encounter in the NFL this weekend. The predictions were made in a video posted by the PGA Tour on their X profile on December 7, 2024. The two NFL teams are scheduled to lock horns on Saturday at the Southeastern Conference Championship.
The video posted on the PGA Tour's account features stars like Straka, Harman, and Henley along with Scottie Scheffler. Scottie unsurprisingly backed Texas to do the job. The 2023 Hero World Champion is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. Scottie Scheffler said:
"It's really hard to win twice against a really good team. And I think Texas is a really good team. But Georgia's also a really good team. They got a great coach as well."
"I'm hoping the team is better, mentally than I am because I have already peaked after beating the Aggies. So hopefully the team's a little bit more locked in than I am."
Sepp Straka, Brian Harman and Russell Henley are rooting for Georgia to win this rematch. Shortly after Scheffler picked his favourite, Harman and Henley faced the camera together. Straka, a graduate from the University of Georgia, was confident of his choice. Harman appeared a bit surprised with the choice made by Scottie Scheffler.
"So, Scottie wants Texas to win? That's shocking. Yeah, I hope Georgia wins", Harman said.
"Yeah I hope Georgia wins too," Henley added.
According to Harman, one of the two NFL teams will "win by less than seven points". Scottie Scheffler also gave us his prediction on the match scoreline. He's rooting for Texas to win the rematch against Georgia by 30-15.
What Scottie Scheffler and the other tour pros prefer to watch aside from golf
The Hero World Challenge 2024 is currently underway at the Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas. With Tiger Woods hosting the contest, 20 professional golfers are competing for the title.
The players might be on the PGA Tour, but they have interests in other sports as well. Apart from him being a pro, Harman loves hunting. His passion earned him the "Butcher of Hoylake" nickname. Brian explained the reason behind his hobby in an interview with GolfDigest.com:
"For me, I do it because I'm not so sure there's always going to be grocery stores, and I want to be able to appreciate how life was, what, 80 years ago? We're one generation removed from all living in the woods, you know what I mean?"
Scottie Scheffler appears to be a big supporter of Texas in the NFL. The American Professional has interest in basketball, lacrosse, pickleball, football, and baseball as well. As he told Golf Digest in 2014, Scottie hit a total of 30 3-pointers in succession while playing basketball once. The 28-year-old has owned a pickleball team named Texas Ranchers since August 2023.
