The Creator Classic amassed over 100k viewers online, live event crowded with cameras
The 2024 Creator Classic was organized on Wednesday before the Tour Championship teed off on Thursday. This event invited several golf content creators, including Paige Spiranac, Luke Kwon, Garrett Clark, and others, to play over nine holes. Kwon won the tournament in a death playoff on the 18th hole against Wesley Bryan, Roger Steele, and Sean Walsh.
The match on Wednesday was witnessed by several fans online, with the cumulative watch count reaching over 100k at one point. Reporting on the same, "NUCLRGolf" posted about the viewership via their X handle. The post featured a screenshot of the viewers who were streaming the Creator Classic.
“JUST IN: The Creator Classic has surpassed 100k viewers on YouTube,” the caption read.
Later on, Sports Illustrated writer Gabby Herzig also shared a photo via her X handle and said that the venue had 9 million cameras on the course.
“The scene in the 1st tee of the Creator Classic is pretty nuts. There are like 9 million cameras: TV cameras, Netflix cameras, AND vlog cameras. They’ve got scoring officials and rules officials. Xander and Wyndham’s caddies are milling about. What a day,” Herzig wrote.
After the conclusion of the Creator Classic, the PGA’s next event is the Tour Championship, which will take place at East Lake Golf Course on August 29 and will continue for four days to conclude on September 1.
The winner of the Tour Championship will be the FedEx playoffs’ winner for this season. Last year, the title was won by Viktor Hovland, who'll defend his title this year. The field also has Scottie Scheffler, who's handicapped 7. Other golfers on the course are Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Wyndham Clark, and more.
