“They can kick me out” – $40M LIV Golfer breaks silence after finishing in the Saudi-circuit’s relegation
Bubba Watson is among the five LIV golfers facing relegation this season. Despite being the captain of RangeGoats GC and having a chance to escape relegation, he has told the team they could replace him if they didn’t find him good enough.
Watson has had a tough 2024 season, failing to secure even one top-ten finish. He managed just four top-30 finishes and eventually slipped into the drop zone by finishing 53rd in the season standings. This year, the Saudi-backed circuit changed the rule for captains, stating that even they could face relegation.
Earlier in August, Watson mentioned that he had asked his team to replace him if they didn’t find him valuable enough.
"I told my team if they don't think I am good enough to play, they can kick me out and we will put another good golfer in my place," he said as per Express.
The $40 million LIV golfer added that he was going to keep playing until the team threw him out, as he loved helping the younger players.
"They are all trying to be better and also better at golf," he added. "I get to influence three golfers in life, they are all parents and young dads. I want to be there for them and if they have a problem, I want to be able to help them."
