"They would come away equally impressed" - When Nelly Korda urged PGA Tour stars to ‘watch more women’s golf’
Nelly Korda concluded her incredible season with a T8 finish at the PNC Championship. In a field full of PGA Tour legends, the LPGA superstar once again impressed everyone with her game.
The World No. 1 women’s golfer has been in tremendous form, consistently delivering outstanding performances week after week. However, a couple of years ago, she urged her male counterparts to follow women’s golf more closely to better appreciate the game.
The 2023 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January was Nelly Korda's first event since playing in the QBE Shootout and PNC Championship. During the press conference, journalists asked for her reaction to the praise she received from her male counterparts in these exhibition events. While she acknowledged the praise, she also had a special message for them.
"That they should watch more women's golf," she said while laughing. "Honestly, no, it was such an incredible experience. They were very kind with their words towards me, but I think if they came out here and watched all the girls compete they would be equally impressed."
"Just shows the product that we have out here, and hopefully we continue to grow that," she added.
The 26-year-old had an incredible season where she registered seven wins, with five of them coming in straight starts. She also finished the year as World No. 1 and won the LPGA Tour Player of the Year for the first time in her career.
