Bryson DeChambeau addresses idols, passion for the game
Bryson DeChambeau has endeared many fans, even those who didn't follow his journey to LIV Golf, with his on-course heroics and off-course personality. His YouTube channel has exploded, and he has seen a tremendous rise in popularity.
Via Yahoo! Sports, he gave a shout-out to those who came before him and a reason for why he plays the way he does:
“Tiger was an idol of mine, is an idol of mine. He's my hero still, the way he reacted on the golf course. Payne [Stewart], the way he did. Numerous others that have inspired generations that are now here have allowed that to be unique and cool. From my perspective, I'm just passionate. I really care about doing well out here and showing the fans a side of me that was locked up for so long.”
DeChambeau has been on a steady rise in 2024. Fans have watched him go from solid competitor to champion, and it began at the Masters Tournament. He played well, shooting two under and finishing T6.
He upped his game at the PGA Championship, shooting -20 and agonizingly coming in second. He finally broke through over the weekend, shooting six under and winning. With the Open Championship coming next month, fans will eagerly watch to see how Bryson DeChambeau tops his latest outing.
