Tiger Woods' ex-coach responds to fan accusing him of 'destroying' the 15x major winner's swing, uses Brandel Chamblee's comments

Tiger Woods's former coach, Hank Haney, recently responded to a fan who accused him of ruining the 15-time Major winner's swing. Haney coached Woods from 2004 to 2010, a period during which Woods achieved significant success in his career.

The situation unfolded when PGA Tour Live shared a picture of Rory McIlroy seemingly practicing his swing on the golf course. Haney reshared the picture, offering his suggestions on how to improve McIlroy's swing.

"If he kept his head right there until impact he’d be hard to ever beat," Haney wrote.

In the comment section, a fan criticized Haney, blaming him for destroying Tiger Woods' swing. The fan wrote:

"The guy who destroyed tiger woods swing , talking."

However, Haney did not remain silent. Instead, he fired back with a solid response by sharing a tweet from golf journalist Brandel Chamblee. The tweet highlighted Tiger Woods' remarkable strokes gained statistic in 2006, which was +3.443.

"In 2006 Tiger's strokes gained total was+3.443. There's never been so complete a player in the game's history as Tiger Woods," Chamblee tweeted.

Hank Haney shared the screenshot of the Chamblee's comment, writing:

"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but no one is entitled to their own facts."

Notably, Woods and Haney began working together in early 2004, but their partnership ended in 2010. During that time, Woods won numerous tournaments, including six Major championships: the 2005 Masters, the 2006 and 2007 PGA Championship, the 2008 U.S. Open, and The Open Championship in 2005 and 2006.

In addition to that, Tiger Woods won 31 PGA Tour events while working with Hank Haney. Their partnership was incredibly successful, and Woods enjoyed a phenomenal career during that time.

However, Woods has faced struggles with his game following a severe car accident in February 2021.

Recent struggles on the greens for Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods' struggles on the greens began after his car accident in 2021. During the 2021-22 season, he played in only three tournaments: withdrawing from one, missing the cut in another, and finishing 47th in the third.

In the following season, Woods competed in just two official tournaments, withdrawing from one and tying for 45th place at The Genesis Invitational. He also participated in the Hero World Challenge in 2023, finishing 18th after rounds of 75, 70, 71, and 72.

In 2024, Woods played in five events but missed three cuts, withdrew from one, and finished 60th at the Masters. Since the final Major at Royal Troon last month, he has not competed in any tournaments.

Woods is currently on a break and is expected to return for the 2024 Hero World Challenge. Additionally, he is anticipated to play alongside his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship later in December 2024.
