Tiger Woods pens emotional message, announces new golf course design project
Tiger Woods is undertaking another golf course design project. The 15-time Major winner is still an active member of the PGA Tour, but he has been working on things in golf that don't involve playing for several years. Chief among them is his aspiration to be a designer, something he has done before.
The golfer is working with the same company that helped him make Bluejack National. His latest project will be called Bluejack Ranch. It will be a 900-acre venue just outside of Forth Worth, Texas.
He penned a letter to members of Bluejack Ranch via Golf Monthly:
"It's hard to believe it's been over 10 years since we embarked on my first US course design at Bluejack National in Houston. The response to that golf experience has been truly gratifying, and when I hear how much Bluejack means to people, I feel incredibly proud of the TGR Design team."
Woods continued:
"Now, we're bringing that same Bluejack spirit and passion to Fort Worth - a city celebrated not only as Cowtown but also as a golf town. With legends like Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson, the love for the game here is genuine."
The letter noted that Woods is "grateful for the encore opportunity to re-team with Bluejack National and home-towners Andy and Kristin Mitchell." He called the project and the community "special."
The 2019 Masters champion said that the shared vision of himself and the design company is to create a space "where families can enjoy the game and have fun." Woods added that it is "extremely motivating" for him to be able to contribute to the golf community in Forth Worth.
Former PGA Tour star partners with Tiger Woods on new golf course
There will be a lot of people involved with Tiger Woods' latest golf course design. These endeavors always require a lot of people, and Bluejack Ranch will be no different. Among Woods' co-conspirators is his former Ryder Cup teammate JJ Henry.
Henry said via Golf.com:
“This is an incredible piece of property with dramatic elevation changes and great scenery. This is a very proud moment for it all to come together for something we have been working on for many years.”
Andy Mitchell, the co-founder of Bluejack, is also working with Woods. The designer said via WFAA:
"There's a lot of accomplished people in Dallas, Fort Worth, and a lot of people moving here, and life takes a lot out of you. So the entire property was developed in that modus operandi, that it was a safe place to come."
Mitchell said it is a private community that comes rife with "all manner" of sporting activities. Tiger Woods is reportedly also going to design a course alongside three-time MLB MVP Mike Trout, which will be called Trout National.
