Tiger Woods reveals son Charlie “was excited to watch” 2 PGA superstars at 2024 US Open practice round
Tiger Woods brought his son, Charlie, to the Tuesday practice round session at Pinehurst. The 15-time Major champion is playing his third straight Major at the 2024 US Open this year and practiced with Max Homa and Aussie star Min Woo Lee.
In a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the US Open, Tiger admitted that it was "very special" to have his son support him. Woods also talked about Charlie's excitement to watch PGA Tour stars Max Homa and Min Woo Lee up close:
“It’s neat for him to see the guys he watches on TV and YouTube snd TikTok whatever the hell it is. He was very excited to watch Max and Min Woo.”
Woods also mentioned about trusting him with his golf game and preparations.
“I trust him with my swing and my game. He’s seen me hit more golf balls than anyone.”
Tiger Woods withdrew from the US Open the last time it was hosted by Pinehurst in 2012 due to back injury. However, he has played the Major twice at this field before earning a T2 finish in 2005.
Woods' last Major triumph came in 2019, when he won the Masters for the fifth time. He will look to use his experience and break the drought on a course which could cause big problems to the best of players.
Tiger Woods still confident his body can support his winning ambitions
It would be unlikely of Tiger Woods if he said that he couldn't win a tournament he has participating in. The three-time US Open winner still believes he has what it takes to win another Major, despite his injury issues which has put a pause on his exemplary career so often.
Woods was convinced he had the strength to go the distance physically at a circuit he's enjoyed some success before. When asked by a reporter in the press conference if he felt he could win the tournament and had the strength to play four rounds, he said:
“Yeah I do, I do feel like I have the strength and to be able to do it. It's just a matter of doing it. This golf course is gonna test every single aspect of the game, especially mentally, and the discipline it takes to play this particular golf course."
The Big Cat also shared he had been working on a game plan ahead of Thursday's first round tee time. Woods has been paired with Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick on Thursday starting at 7:29 a.m. (EST).
Is this finally the Major Tiger Woods breaks his deadlock?
