Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy led TGL sign $19.37 billion worth electronics giant as founding partner
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's much-anticipated tech-infused league, TGL, has signed Best Buy as a founding partner. The $19.37 billion electronics giant joins Genesis and Businessolver as founding partners and has also become the official Retail Technology Partner of TGL.
Tomorrow's Golf League, known as TGL, is a tech-infused league set to begin its first season on January 7 next year. However, before the start of the season, the league continues to sign deals with corporate giants.
On Wednesday, November 13, Josh Carpenter of Sports Business Journal took to X to announce TGL's latest sponsor.
"@TGL's newest sponsor is @BestBuy, which is coming on board as a founding partner," he wrote.
Jason Langwell, the chief revenue officer at TMRW Sports, said that Best Buy showcased TGL's way of attracting both new and traditional sponsors to the league's modern approach to the sport.
"And with its fast-paced, prime time matches on ESPN, we aim to attract a wide spectrum of both traditional golf fans, as well as broader sports fans who relate to TGL's team elements," he sais as per Forbes.
Jennie Weber, Best Buy Chief Marketing Officer, said they were excited to partner with TGL.
"We know better than anyone how technology can help people take what they care about most to the next level, and for many, golf is that huge moment in their lives—whether they're competing on the course or tuning in at home to follow their favorite players," he said.
"We’re excited to partner with TGL to help bring to life an exciting and innovative experience for sports fans and show them how tech can enhance the game they love," he added.
As per Forbes, the total amount of TGL's limited number of Founding Partner deals will be anywhere between $5 million and $8 million annually.
