Tom Kim sits out Presidents Cup Day 2 after heated match against Scottie Scheffler; Mike Weir justifies decision

On September 26th, the International Team faced a tough start to the 2024 Presidents Cup as Team USA managed to pull off a clean sweep. The Jim Furyk-led team claimed a 5-0 lead and registered its fifth clean sweep in the event's history.

As the International Team now looks to rebuild on Friday, Day 2, Tom Kim, who featured yesterday, will be sitting out. The International Team captain, Mike Weir, said the decision to sit the South Korean professional golfer is "part of the plan."

It's important to note that Tom Kim and his partner from yesterday, Sungaje Im, were involved in a controversy on Day 1. On the 8th hole, Sungjae Im and Kim walked 60 yards away towards the 9th hole before Scottie Scheffler, who was matched against them, could finish putting.

You can watch the video of the controversial moment involving Team USA and International Team members in the X (fka Twitter) post below:

This move by the International Team golfers was considered disrespectful by many. Golf analyst Paul McGinley called out Sungjae Im and Tom Kim for their actions on Thursday. Scheffler and Henley, on the other hand, did not let this incident affect them as they won 3&2.
