Tommy Fleetwood warns players ahead of the Olympics golf outing, says there’s no room for ‘aggressive’ play at Le Golf National

The 2024 Olympics is set to feature the sport of golf for the 5th time in the history of the games. Previously, only the 1900, 1904, 2016, and 2020 editions of the Olympics featured golf. Ahead of this year's edition, professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood has issued a warning to the rest of the players.

In the press conference ahead of the event in Paris, Fleetwood warned the other golfers that there is no room for "aggressive" play at the Le Golf National. While adding that a clever and calculated approach would be required to maneuver the course, Tommy Fleetwood said (via "OlympicGolf" on X):

"The way this golf course sets up is how I feel tournament golf should be played. You can't play very aggressively. You have to plot your way around. It requires a lot of patience."

Tommy Fleetwood is no stranger to playing at France's iconic Le Golf National. In 2017, Fleetwood won the Open De France at this course, and a year later he won the 2018 Ryder Cup with Team Europe at the Le Golf National.

Along with that, the 2024 Paris Olympics will be the second time Tommy Fleetwood will be playing at the games. Before this, he played in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he tied for 16th place.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Tommy Fleetwood will represent Great Britain and team up with Matt Fitzpatrick. In their bid to win Great Britain a gold medal, the duo will go up against some of the best golfers on the planet.
