Tony Finau wants the US team to bring a ‘dogfight’ at the Presidents Cup

Following the International team's incredible comeback at the Presidents Cup on Day 2, Tony Finau said that he wanted Team USA in a dogfight over the remaining rounds.

On Friday, September 28, Finau and his teammates entered the Royal Montreal Golf Club with a 5-0 lead. However, by the end of the day, that lead had vanished as the hosts swept them in the foursomes, winning 5-0.

During the post-round press conference, Tony Finau was asked whether the team would prefer to erase the memory of Friday's session or use it as motivation for the upcoming rounds.

"A little bit of both," he said. "You learn from today, but we've got three sessions left. That's the message to our guys. We know there's a lot of golf to be played. We played great yesterday, and they played great today."
"Now we're back to square one, where it's a tie moving forward. So it's a dogfight, and I like my 11 guys in a dogfight over the next three rounds," he added.

Earlier, Finau and Wyndham Clark lost to the duo of Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes in the fourth foursome of the day. The Canadian pair registered a thumping 6&5 victory over the US pair. There was no moment in the match when the American duo had the upper hand. Conners and Hughes were 1-up on the first hole itself and then went on to close the match in 13 holes.

"Mac and Corey played great," Finau added. "On a day like today, you tip your cap to the guys that played better, and in our case, they definitely played better than we did. They were able to use the crowd behind them to their advantage."
