Tyrrell Hatton 'lost for words' after winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship for the third time

Tyrrell Hatton won the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship with a score of 24-under. It was Hatton's third victory in the event and he set several records in the process.

A day after his victory, Tyrrell Hatton took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to thank Hatton for the opportunity to play in the event. Hatton posted several pictures of his victory, followed by a caption that read:

"Lost for words! To win for a third time at @dunhilllinks playing alongside my dad is very cool. Thank you for all the support this week & a big thank you to the @DPWorldTour & all the amazing team at @alfreddunhill. A very special tournament at the @TheHomeofGolf"

Tyrrell Hatton is wrapping up a great season in which he had one win and six other top 10s on LIV Golf. He also played in all four of the season's majors and made the cut every time, with a T9 at the Masters Tournament being his best finish.

On the DP World Tour, Tyrrell Hatton has played five tournaments in 2024, including the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (T31) to start the season and the British Masters (T18), the Open de España (T10) and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship (1) in recent weeks.

A look at Tyrrell Hatton's performance in the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Tyrrell Hatton began his participation in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at Carnoustie. He shot a 65 with seven birdies and no bogeys to finish T12 after 18 holes.

He played the second round at Kingsbarns, where he carded an eagle, three birdies and one bogey for a 68 and a share of ninth place on 11 under, three shots off the lead.

Hatton all but sealed his victory during the third round at the Old Course at St. Andrews. He carded an eagle and nine birdies without a bogey to equal the course record with an 11-under 61.

The fourth round was not for the faint-hearted, however, as Nicolas Colsaerts finished the 54 holes just one stroke behind Hatton. The two went head-to-head in the final round and Colsaerts came close to spoiling the Englishman's party.

Hatton started well in the fourth round, also played at St Andrews, with four birdies and no bogeys through the 12th hole. However, his round was marred by a double bogey on the 13th and a bogey on the 14th.

Colsaerts had managed to stay close and after Hatton slipped, he birdied the 15th to level the match. Both players parred the 16th and 17th, setting the scene for the final hole.

The Belgian reached the green in two, but missed a seven-foot putt for birdie that would have given him at least the possibility of forcing a playoff. Hatton, on the other hand, birdied the 18th to take the title.

Hatton became the event's all-time leading winner with three titles. He also matched his own tournament-record score of 24-under 264, a record he set when he won in 2017.
