Tyrrell Hatton overtakes $218M-worth LIV Golfer in the European Ryder Cup team qualification rankings
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship win has helped Tyrrell Hatton move further up the European Ryder Cup points list. He has also overtaken fellow LIV Golf teammate Jon Rahm in the latest rankings.
On Sunday, October 6, Tyrrell Hatton fired a 2-under 70 to post a one-shot win over Nicolas Colsaerts, securing his third Alfred Dunhill Links Championship victory. Jon Rahm shot 69 in the final round to aggregate at 18-under and finished T7.
According to the latest European Ryder Cup points list, Hatton has climbed to fifth in the standings with 295 points, while Jon Rahm is eighth with 205 points.
Rasmus Hojgaard tops the standings with 376 points, while Rory McIlroy is second with 354 points. Matt Wallace, Niklas Norgaard and Angel Hidalgo are the other players in the top 6 of the points list. Only the top six players in the Ryder Cup standings will automatically qualify for next year’s event at Bethpage.
For the uninitiated, both Hatton and Rahm play for Legion XIII on the LIV Golf circuit. While Hatton joined LIV earlier this year, Rahm joined the Saudi-backed circuit last December. According to Forbes, the Spaniard is worth $218 million in 2024, making him the world’s highest-paid golfer.
