WATCH: Bryson DeChambeau gets extremely unlucky in 'ace over house challenge' as ball bounces out of hole
During the LIV Golf offseason, Bryson DeChambeau has taken to creating and attempting internet challenges. He has been working on hitting a hole-in-one over the top of his house.
It's challenging enough to hit the ball over the house without it making contact and potentially breaking something, but DeChambeau has stepped it up by tasking himself with landing a shot he physically cannot see.
Bryson DeChambeau has been attempting this for about two weeks. He has inspired other creators to try this or similar challenges, though they haven't had much success, either. He even got one creator to increase the size of the hole in his yard every day he failed to make the ace.
DeChambeau's most recent attempt was his closest, but it didn't count despite landing in the hole. Check out the stunning result below:
With five golf balls within a few feet of the hole, DeChambeau's next attempt landed in front of the hole and bounced perfectly in. It just had too much velocity, and the impact forced it to bounce right back out. It came to rest inches from the pin. Here's a look at the full attempt by the 2024 US Open victor:
Official golf rules state that the ball must come to a rest before it can count, so if it bounces or otherwise leaves the cup without any interference, it does not count. This challenge doesn't operate by normal golf rules, but the LIV Golf star wanted to make it stay in the hole for it to count.
Bryson DeChambeau opens up on what he loves about golf
Bryson DeChambeau loves the sport of golf. He's playing the sport and challenging himself to do something completely improbable during the time in which he doesn't have any commitments to play.
He recently revealed what he truly loves about the sport of golf. The golfer said (via Goal.com):
"I would say waking up every day and it's a new Journey for me. It's a new opportunity. It's a new day to try and get better. There's never any point where unless you're Tiger 2000, where you're like, 'I got it.' It's always, 'What can I do to be better? ' That's why I love golf. It's the pursuit of perfection. 'Well, knowing we can't achieve perfection will achieve excellence along the way.' Vince Lombardi quote by the way."
Bryson DeChambeau has been working at his craft since 2016 when he first turned pro. He won the US Open in 2020 but eventually felt that he'd be better served on LIV Golf.
He made the transition and has shot into the mainstream thanks to his YouTube channel and his overall success since joining the rebel circuit.
