WATCH: Bryson DeChambeau shows the process of ‘salting’ his golf balls

Bryson DeChambeau recently demonstrated how he salts his golf balls. The American golfer admitted during the 2024 U.S. Open that he usually keeps his golf balls in Epsom salt to balance them before teeing off for his matches.

LIV Golf recently posted a video on their Instagram account featuring Bryson DeChambeau showing the audience his entire ball-salting process. In the video, he places the balls in a container filled with salt and, using a spatula, ensures they are fully submerged in the water.

Bryson DeChambeau is known for his scientific approach to golf gear. Besides using salted balls in his game, DeChambeau has previously been spotted playing with 3D-printed golf clubs.

DeChambeau has enjoyed an incredible 2024 season, winning his second career Major at the U.S. Open earlier this year by defeating Rory McIlroy. On the LIV Golf circuit, he has had a decent season, though he did not win any events. On the Saudi circuit, he has played in 12 events and recorded seven finishes in the top 10.

DeChambeau began his LIV Golf campaign at the Mayakoba event, where he finished in 25th place. However, he soon drew attention with a ninth-place finish in Las Vegas, followed by fourth place in Jeddah, sixth place in Hong Kong, and seventh place in Miami. With his stellar performance in 2024, DeChambeau secured ninth place in the LIV Golf's season-ending standings.

When Bryson DeChambeau explained the reason for using salted golf balls

Earlier this year in June, Bryson DeChambeau revealed why he uses salted golf balls. The American golfer explained that the salty balls help him keep the ball in balance.

He shared a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account, saying:

"Heavy slide floats to the bottom, and then we mark the top with a dot to make sure it's always rolling over itself. It kind of acts like mud. If there's too much weight on one side, you can put it 90 degrees to where the mud is on the right-hand side or the mud is on the left-hand side. I'm using mud as a reference for the weight over there. It'll fly differently and fly inconsistently. For most golf balls that we get, it's not really that big of a deal."

Bryson DeChambeau's use of salted golf balls has given him an advantage, and he has performed well this season. The LIV golfer recently played at the Greenbrier event, where he finished in 15th place. He will next be competing at the Chicago event in September.

In addition to his impressive game, Bryson DeChambeau has also made headlines this season due to his social media presence. The two-time Major winner collaborated with former U.S. President Donald Trump on a YouTube video that has garnered significant attention and gone viral, amassing around 11.7 million views.
