Bryson DeChambeau has been in tremendous form in Majors this year, and it seems like it will also continue this week. His practice videos ahead of the Open Championship indicate that he is focused on having another great outing at the Majors.
DeChambeau is at Royal Troon this week for his seventh appearance at the Open Championship. He is entering the season's final Major with a US Open win and a runner-up finish at the PGA Championship.
On Tuesday, July 16, broadcaster Kit Alexander shared a clip on X, where Bryson DeChambeau fired shots with a persimmon wood. According to Alexander, the US Open champion initially reached a speed of 176-178 mph before achieving 182 mph with his last shot. "It can be a difficult challenge" - Bryson DeChambeau reflects on links golf challenge ahead of the Open Championship
On Tuesday, Bryson DeChambeau spoke to journalists ahead of the Open Championship. During the press conference, he reflected on the challenge of playing at links golf courses.
"It can be a difficult challenge," he said. "I wouldn't say it's a problem. It's a challenge. I think that's what's so great about links golf and Open Championship, and what it provides is a different test and different -- yeah, a different test to try and figure out and get an A on, I guess you could say."
DeChambeau has had some good results at links golf courses, whether it was at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club during the 2015 Walker Cup or at St Andrews two years ago, where he tied for eighth. However, he acknowledged the challenge of links golf.
"It's always been a difficult test for me because I wasn't great at putting early on in my career," he continued. "I've gotten a little bit better. My wedge game has gotten better. I've learned to flight the ball a little bit."
He added that his game was gradually getting there and it was a matter of just a couple more reps. He concluded that if he played well this week, he would have a great chance, and that's all he was focusing on at the moment.
"I just think over the course of time I'm going to get more and more comfortable with this golf course," he added.
Bryson DeChambeau is one of the favorites to win this week. As per CBS he is 9-1 for the Open Championship win and is only behind Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, respectively.
