WATCH: Bryson DeChambeau tees up with comically long club that is taller than him ahead of LIV Dallas

Bryson DeChambeau is one of the best drivers in golf. He is consistently able to hit the ball further than a lot of players. A lot more than equipment goes into this, but LIV Golf decided to provide the golfer with a comically long driver to see if his skills could translate.

DeChambeau posed with it, and the shaft stood much taller than he is. He had his hand stretched up high over his head to hold the top of the handle. It was close to twice the size of a normal driver.

DeChambeau lined up a shot with the club, offering a forewarning for everyone since he likely had no clue how the swing was going to go. Naturally, he had to stand back much further than he normally does.

The 2024 US Open champion brought the club head up to the ball and then back around his body before turning into a swing. Understandably, it was a much softer and weaker swing than his normal drives. In order to hit the ball with the lengthy driver, he had to take it a lot slower. DeChambeau still managed to hit it cleanly, though.

The golfer couldn't help but laugh after the shot before pushing the driver's collapsible shaft back down to a more normal size. This was done ahead of LIV Chicago, the team event to cap off the season for the golf tour.

Can Bryson DeChambeau make the Ryder Cup?

In 2023, there was one single LIV Golf member on the Ryder Cup team. Brooks Koepka, who narrowly missed out on automatic qualifying thanks to his PGA Championship win, was picked by captain Zach Johnson. The Europeans had no members.

In 2025, there are a few players who could be up for it. Jon Rahm on the European side is one example and Bryson DeChambeau, and perhaps Koepka, is certainly an option for the Americans. Can he even play, though?

As of now, USA captain Keegan Bradley doesn't expect a change in qualification. Via Sports Illustrated, he said:

"We're going to have the 12 best players, so they need to figure that out, if that's their problem. I know you have to be a PGA member to play in the Ryder Cup. That's the only stipulation that you need."

He added that the only gray area is for LIV members. Bradley said:

“We're going to have to really get with the captains, get with the team that's going to be there and figure that out.”

That leaves Bryson DeChambeau's potential Ryder Cup status up in the air. Based on 2023, LIV members don't appear to be prohibited from the competition, but making it in is harder.
