WATCH: Caitlin Clark takes to the range to warm up for the Annika LPGA Tournament
Caitlin Clark is out early ahead of the 2024 LPGA Annika tournament. Later on, she will be partnered with legendary golfer Annika Sorenstam. Before that, she's taken to the range to get some practice swings in.
Clark came decked out in pink shoes, black pants, and a white jacket. She promptly took a few practice swings before hitting her first ball. She didn't make solid contact on the first shot, but she put on a much better swing for her second.
Clark and Sorenstam will be caddied by Marcus Ericsson and Colton Herta today. They are two professional Indy car drivers and are both sponsored by Gainbridge, the company that is also sponsoring the entire tournament.
Clark said via Sporting News:
"I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the pro-am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam's name on it is so exciting."
The full pro-am for the WNBA star will not be televised, but beginning at 11 am EST, Golf Channel will provide live look-ins and more coverage of the event.
Caitlin Clark details goals for golf outings
Caitlin Clark is one of the best basketball players in the world. She brought the Indiana Fever from the number one overall pick to the playoffs in just one season. When it comes to golf, she isn't as confident.
Clark said via ESPN:
"Usually, I'm just praying to break 100."
Caitlin Clark went on to say:
"I'm strong, and I can hit it. It just usually doesn't go straight. I mean sometimes it goes straight, but it depends. You just step up there and hope for the best. ... I just don't want to hit anyone with a golf ball. That's my number one priority."
This is the second pro-am Clark has competed in. She played on the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic pro-am in 2023. She was paired then with Ludvig Ã…berg on the front nine and former Team USA Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson on the back nine. This time, she's with Annika Sorenstam and world number one Nelly Korda.
